Conquest set great store by the advantages of a base layer, and we need little convincing. We’d ride without only the very hottest days. This offering may resemble the humble t-shirt, but is altogether a more sophisticated garment. Made from a mix of polyester and elastene, the fabric has a ‘dual face’: twill on the inside for softness and wicking, and with an ‘open construction’ on the outside for breathability.
Ours is white, and has a UPF rating of 50+, making it better suited to summer use than for the current season. We’ll give it a spin on the warmer days ahead, and, like the jersey, swap it out for the long-sleeved equivalent when temperatures drop. Ours is white, but there’s a black option too. It comes in five sizes from S to 2XL and costs £40.30. The long-sleeved base layer costs £45.50.
