Core Bike Show 2009: First Report

The first UK trade-only bicycle show of the year was Core Bike, which took place earlier this week giving us the chance to check out the latest 2009 products. These should now be finding their way into local bike shops around the country. Here’s a few highlights – there’s plenty more to come…

FSA distributors Windwave were showing the latest BB30 compatible chainset

Vision, a sub-brand of FSA, is the name reserved for the company’s time trial components, such as the £549.99 i003 carbon semi-integrated bars. They were created in the windtunnel for some Pro Tour teams and feature a reduced frontal area

While the i003 undeniably costs a small fortune, there are more affordable aluminium offerings throughout the range

Not to be outdone, the 3T Ventus has the Fabian Cancellara seal of approval

This is the new Arione CX Braided, pictured here with carbon braided rails, for an impressively low 169g weight

The Arione CX K:ium uses the same new low-density padding as the Braided, but K:ium rails keep the price down

Easton has expanded its range and now offering a full-carbon chainset making use of its nano-technology. Available from Extra UK for £499.99

A closer look at the inside of the Easton chainset reveals how much reinforcing carbon there is in evidence
