London’s Mosquito Bikes has added Milani custom-built Italian bicycles to a burgeoning portfolio. The Islington-based boutique-style outlet, which specialises in smaller, artisanal marques, will sell the full Milani range, which includes road, TT and cyclo-cross machines and a choice of custom or off-the-peg build in a choice of frame materials.
Mosquito’s Phil Burnett says:“At Mosquito, we like to work with people who share our passion for cycling. One such person is Celeste Milani.”
Celeste’s father, Natale, began the Milani bike company in 1927 in Gallarate, 35km north of Milan. Natale was a racing cyclist and craftsman who carried on building for many years. On Natale’s death in the 1990’s, the firm became dormant and various Far Eastern companies offered to buy the name. However, Celeste was having none of it and once again began building frames in Gallarate, where the new Milani concern is still based.
