dhb Merston Long Sleeve Jersey – £29.99

dhb is Wiggle’s exclusive range of clothing designed in Italy. The vast range of affordable apparel is spread out to meet several different price points, and somewhere in the middle sits the Merston branded items.

The Merston Long Sleeve Jersey is a good example of dhb providing a lot for not a lot of money. It’s made from a fabric called ‘T-ISO’, which doesn’t mean a lot to us but in practice it’s a middle-weight fabric, soft to the touch and suited for temperatures ranging from cold to colder.

Its breathability level is perfectly acceptable; we didn’t find ourselves turning into a sweaty mess at all. Its fit is judged about right, with a close cut. And while it can double up as a middle- or outer-layer, it struggles to keep the cold out on windy days. But this can be solved with a windproof gilet, or not using it as an outer-layer on cold windy days.

And it’s laden with features. You get a half-length zip with dhb logo-ed pullers, a reflective logo on the back pocket, four large pockets with one zipped, elasticated waist gripper and it’s all finished off with flat-lock stitching. All this lot would be impressive on a jersey costing substantially more.
