Elite resistance training rollers at Eurobike

Metal strut supports integral step

High level of finish

An intriguing development of late, perhaps in response to the sheer boredom of riding a ‘static’ turbo trainer, is the fitment of resistance units to traditional training rollers, which in their classic form spin freely. The most sophisticated example yet is the new V-ARION from Elite, which integrates a three-level ‘inertial’ resistance unit into a folding frame constructed in a thermoplastic material.

As usual with Elite products the V-ARION offers a high specification, which here includes an integral step above the resistance unit for easy mounting and provision for distance adjustment to suit cycles of varying wheelbase. Claimed to offer greater riding control over a plain drum shape, Elite’s patented parabolic rollers are moulded in hard plastic for a quiet, secure ride. The three resistance levels start at virtually nil for easy recovery riding, with the hardest level offering a severe workout depending on gear ratio.

Expect to pay the equivalent of €360.
