The new Specialized time trial bike that Fabian Cancellara will use to try and win the Tour de France Prologue

We revealed some time ago the development of a new Specialized time trial bike, to which the name ‘Shiv’ has apparently be given.

Details are incredibly thin on the ground, but as this photo from Monaco shows, there don’t seem to have been any fundamental changes to the design philosophy behind it. The bike also sports a hinge-style head tube, as used by Felt. The frame also shares similarities with the Walser TT frame, with its straight and slim top tube and curved seat tube.

Aerodynamic it most certainly looks

The aero-shaped handlebars appear to be integrated into the enlarged hinged head tube and there’s virtually nothing to disrupt the airflow from flowing cleanly across the entire length of the top tube. The front brake caliper is neatly tucked in below the fairing and while isn’t totally out of the airflow, shouldn’t offer much disruption.
