Bike fit
Okay, so it’s not really a gadget you can buy, take home and use, but a bike fit is a great way to sort out any niggles you might have while riding or, if you’re a time triallist, potentially grab a few more seconds here or there.
There are loads of different companies that do bike fits, and some specific brands like Specalized and Trek even have their own fitting systems now. But from the point of view of someone who’s never had a fit before, as long as the bike fitter you use is knowledgeable and experienced you can’t really go wrong – though be on the look out for the common symptoms of a bad bike fit.

As well as different systems, there are different levels of fit as well. Some cost as little as £50, while if you want a full all-singing, all-dancing TT bike fit they can last hours or more and set you back hundreds of pounds.
But if you struggle with anything on the bike, be it a bad back, dodgy knee, sore arms or whatever – especially if it’s something that only rears its head as you ride – chances are a bike fitter can sort you out.
