Saddle manufacturer Fizik has added the Cyrano seatpost to its range, finally offering Fizik fans a post to match their saddles.
The Italian company’s new seatpost is an elegant and simple product, with a two-bolt clamp atop a 3D forged post. A key feature of the design is a long lower clamp intended to better support the carbon rails found on its top-end saddles, and a handy adjuster wheel at the front for getting the saddle angle setup. Paired with a shorter top-clamp there is a good range of fore-aft adjustment.
Four sizes will be available (27.2, 30.9, 31.6 and 34.9mm) in 270mm length and will cost £89.99. Weight should be about 180g. A natty addition is a rubber sleeve what sits above the seatpost clamp and should go some way to preventing mud and water getting into the frame.
Back to what Fizik mainly concerns itself with, saddles, and there is an updated Antares. Many Arione users bemoaned the lack of Wing-Flex side panels, so Fizik have added this feature to the Antares 00. This should allay some comfort issues several testers found with the pronounced shoulders of the saddles shape.
A major change is a new shell, now featuring a new sandwiched carbon design which, as well as allowing for the addition of Wing-Flex, has brought the weight down. It’s a claimed 135g – that’s about 10g lighter or thereabouts than the previous already light saddle.
