We receive our fair share of black jerseys to review at RoadCyclingUK and they have, on occassion, provoked a hostile reader response about visibility on the road. That’s where Hultra step in.
So, with an ever-growing range of jersey manufacturers setting up shop, what’s different? Having launched in April, Hultra’s mission statement is simple: “Hultra was formed with a simple aim in mind – produce high performance, great looking and affordable jerseys that are clearly visible to other road users.”
The launch piece is a short sleeve jersey available in three colourways: white/lime green/black, white/bright orange/black or the white/vivid blue/black number we’ve received to test.
The jersey, manufactured using a stretchy polyester/spandex mix, has retro-inspired styling, with a wide, coloured hoop across the front, and the same colour featuring on the collar and back of the arms, as well as a full-length vertical stripe on the rear.
The jersey’s contrasting colours look to set it apart from its rivals in the high-visibility stakes, while there’s also a generous amount of reflective scotchlite piping on the seams that join the front and back with the side panels, as well along the top of the three rear pockets.
Other features include a full-length YKK zip, zipped valuables pocket, an embroidered Hultra tag, minimal branding and a silicon gripper at the hem to hold the jersey in place.
All that boils down to a jersey that Hultra say is designed not to look good when down the pub, but to look good when on a bike.
The Hultra Short Sleeve Jersey retails at £39.95 and worldwide shipping is available from www.hultra.co.uk
