KHS 2010

KHS coming to the UK in 2010

KHS has been producing bicycles since 1974 from its Dominguez Hills, California headquarters, but has had little presence in the UK in recent years. That changed when, last year the company introduced its mountain bikes, and for 2010 will follow that up with the launch of its road bikes into the UK.

The range covers the usual suspects, from fixed wheel track bikes to touring, cyclo-cross and carbon race bikes. Here’s a look at some of the highlights.

The Flite 100 is a classic track style fixie/singlespeed and is made from Reynolds 520 double butted tubing and a lugged flat crown cromo fork. There are nice details like the Japanese style track bar, large flange hubs, clips and leather straps. Colours available include a gloss black and metallic gold. Sizes from 53 to 60cm and it’ll cost just £499.99.

The Urban Uno singlespeed features a Reynolds 520 double butted tubeset with a sloping top tube, sloping fork lugged crowns, bull horns and retro salmon style low profile mudguards and drilling for rear rack. Price is £499.99, but for £349.99 the Urban Soul uses a different tubeset and ditches the mudguards.

For a mix of touring and commuting, the TR101 comes ready to roll with mudguards, rear rack, and bulletproof Shimano drivetrain for £799.99.

Raced and refined over several years the CX200 is made from U6 DB alloy tubing with chromoly forks and for versatility there are eyelets for mudguards and racks. Spec includes Tiagra 9-speed shifters, 105 rear mech, top mount Tektro, lightweight 20/24 V-section wheelset with sealed bearings. In Lime or pearl white. £899.99.

Featuring a carbon fibre frameset the Flite Team is the company’s top flight road bike, and comes fully loaded with Shimano Dura-Ace components for just £2799.99. Weight is a reasonably 15.5lbs with a True Temper carbon fork, RS80 wheels, FSA carbon seatpost and 3T bars and stem.

Like the Flite Team the Flite 900 gets a full carbon frame and fork package but the fitting of Shimano Ultegra and Mavic Aksium wheels brings the price down to £1799.99. Meanwhile, for £599.99 the Flite 300 will appeal to new cyclists wanting a well designed and reasonably specced road bike. A tidy aluminium frame is finished with understated decals and there’s Shimano components, a Truvativ chainset and Quasar wheels to complete the package.
