Bowman Cycles launched in October 2014 with the Palace, a race-ready aluminium frame inspired by south London’s Crystal Palace summer crit series.
Four months down the line and the Kent-based brand will use the London Bike Show to lift the lid on the Pilgrims, designed as an all-weather, go anywhere machine named after the Pilgrim’s Way.
“On every ride we pass by tracks ill-suited to conventional road bikes, and we wonder,” says Bowman founder Neil Webb. “We query: where does that go? With the Pilgrims the wondering becomes wandering.”
The first two frames have arrived in the UK just this week (check out the gallery below for unboxing shots), so the London Bike Show will give you the first opportunity to see them in the flesh, with full stock due at the end of February.
The Pilgrims has a triple-butted, custom-shaped, 7005-T6 aluminium alloy frame, paired with a tapered, carbon fibre, disc-specific fork. The frameset has room for 35c tyres (or 32c with mudguards) and the geometry has been tweaked, with a longer wheelbase and lower bottom bracket, to improve off-road stability.
Now for two new frames from Enigma…
