Wattbike has released two new models of its indoor cycling trainer – both with drop handlebars, dummy hoods and integrated aerobars.
The latest Trainer and Pro models also incorporate a revised double-sided pedal to cater for Shimano SPD and Look Keo cleats, and a reverse flat pedal with toe clip.
Riders are also able to fit their own standard saddle and pedals. That combined with the Wattbike’s range of fore/aft and vertical positioning of the seat and handlebars, ensures the rider is able to fine-tune their position.
“We are continually looking at ways to improve upon the athlete’s training experience,” said Wattbike chairman Alexis Dormandy, who also revealed the company has established a manufacturing relationship with Giant.
“Feedback from elite cyclists and triathletes suggested that a revised handlebar setup would allow an even greater level of replication of their road setup and subsequently enable a higher level of quality training.
“We think this new handlebar will be of benefit to all of our customers, whether they are training for the Olympics, a local sportive or triathlon.”
Wattbike launched in 2008 and the machines are used by British Cycling to identify talent in young athletes. The bikes can seat a maximum rider weight of 150kg and can support a power input of 5000 watts.
Dormandy added: “The new manufacturing relationship with Giant Manufacturing Co. Ltd ensures that the Wattbike will be made to rigorously high standards in the most efficient and modern facilities in the cycle industry worldwide.
“As our presence in the UK, Europe, Australia and the USA grows, it was important to have a manufacturing partner that could scale to meet demand without compromising the accuracy and integrity of the Wattbike. “
Both the Wattbike Trainer and Wattbike Pro are available now for £1,850 from www.wattbike.com
