Photo gallery: 2016 Lapierre Xelius SL breaks cover at 2015 Giro d’Italia

French firm's race frame goes on a diet and seeks to improve comfort

Lapierre are set to launch a significant update to the Xelius, with a design which seeks to boost comfort and, we expect, drop the weight of the frame – and we spotted FDJ.fr’s Cédric Pineau riding the new machine at the Giro d’Italia ahead of its official launch later this month.

The Xelius EFI, as it is currently known, is one of two machines used by the FDJ.fr team on a day-to-day basis, alongside the aero-influenced Aircode. The Pulsium ‘endurance’ bike is also rolled out for the Classics.

The latest version of the Xelius is dubbed the Xelius SL, so it’s likely the frame has been on the diet, and while Lapierre are remaining tight-lipped on any details, there are few things we can decipher from the machine we clapped eyes on at the Giro.
