Pistard First Look

The Milano jersey, made from MerinoPerform, comes with a set of arm warmers
The Light Jersey is designed for hard, all-day cycling in hot conditions

We first heard of Pistard, manufacturers of Italian urban and road wear, back in January, following the release of their Softshell Kenny jacket.

And we’ve since received two items to test, fresh off the production line in Italy.

First up, the Milano jersey, a short sleeve number, is manufactured using MerinoPerform. In short, that’s a 62 per cent polyester, 38 per cent Merino mix. That combination helps regulate body temperature, while allowing moisture to wick away from the skin.

The Milano dons a subtle yet distinctive red and black colourway, in tribute to Pistard’s home city. A red horizontal panel is complemented by red stitching on the arms. The jersey has three large pockets on the back, two with reflective piping, with an additional two zipped pockets, one of them waterproof, for valuables.

Other features include a silicone gripper strip and drawstrings to keep the jersey in place. The Pistard logo, a simple white and pink design, sits on the left breast. The Milano also comes with a set of complimentary red arm warmers, with a brushed fleece inner, designed for cold mornings.

While the Milano’s Merino is ideal for spring, the Light Jersey is designed with summer in mind, manufactured using 100 per cent polyester.

As the name suggests, the jersey is super-light to keep the body cool. Its 3function fibre seeks to wick moisture away from the skin as quickly as possible. “The 3function fibre is light, easy-to-wash and dries quickly,” according to the marketing blurb. It also offers UV protection and is anti-bacterial, helping to “kill more than 30 types of bacteria and eliminate bad smells.”

The Light Jersey featues a half-zip, allowing for maximum air conditioning during the hot summer months. As with the Milano, there’s three rear pockets, two with reflective piping, with an additional two zipped pockets, one of them waterproof, for valuables. A silicone gripper strip and drawstrings also feature.

The white design, with black panels on the arms and back, looks made for riding in hot, humid conditions, while pink – a colour used across the Pistard brand – stitching on the arms adds a flash of colour.

Both items are available to buy online direct through Pistard, with the Milano retailing at €129, whilethe Light Jersey is currently reduced from €99 to €69. We’ll let you know how both jerseys perform.
