Trek have once again teamed up with contemporary artist Shepard Fairey to create a limited edition Madone 6.9 SSL for Team Radioshack at the Tour of California.
Fairey previously collaborated with Trek on Lance Armstrong’s machine for the 2009 Giro d’Italia, the first time the seven-time Tour de France winner competed in the Italian stage race. Fairey was also one of the featured contemporary artists during that year’s Stages global art exhibition benefiting the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
The Trek Madone 6.9 SSL, on test here at RCUK. is used by both Radioshack and Leopard-Trek.
“Working with my design agency, Studio Number One, and lead art director Casey Ryder, we took inspiration from RadioShack’s epic electronics legacy and iconic color scheme to create a race aesthetic conveying energy, speed, and mobility,” said Fairey.
“With several avid cyclists on our team, it’s always an honour to affect the surfaces of the most technically advanced race bikes in the world and work with the top-notch Trek art and design team again.”
