The Santini Italia Short Sleeve Jersey is a simple summer jersey with Italian styling, which looks great and is effective for warm weather riding.
The jersey is made from a 60 per cent polyester and 40 per cent polyamide mix which is both light and breathable. The material has a little stretch in it and has an anti-bacterial treatment but, most importantly, it is fast wicking.
The styling is distinctly vintage, with the unmistakable green and red of Italy running around the centre of the jersey, and on the arms, while the back pays tribute to Santini’s history, the 1965 signifying the year in which the company was formed. There’s no doubting the Italia is a stylish number and four colours are available, with red, royal blue and black versions alongside our white jersey.
Santini clothing – like that from many Italian manufacturers – tends to be on the small side, but this piece uses the firm’s E3 cut, which is more relaxed and in line what most riders expect in the UK.
Three rear pockets provide plenty of space to stow gels, a lightweight rain jacket or anything else you want might call upon during a summer ride. Santini have opted for an elasticated hem, rather than one with a silicon gripper, and that’s proved enough to hold the jersey in place. That’s about it as far as additional features go, however.
Retail price is £57.49, which is a little on the high side for a jersey low on features, but it’s high on style and the combination of the vintage look and modern fabric works well.
