Ostensibly an aero crankset for your time trial bike, and some of the Garmin-Sharp riders used these on their Cervélo S3s as well as their P5 TT bikes. And, to be honest, if you’ve gone to all the trouble of buying yourself an aero road bike with deep section wheels and all the trimmings, you might as well seek out one more marginal gain.
Rotor claim the Flow crankset offers a six-second reduction over a 40km TT at an average power of 200 watts. A meagre saving, maybe, but a saving nonetheless.
The Flow cranks come in either 110 or 130BCD (Bolt Circle Diameter), depending on which chainrings you want to run with the crankset. It also has their ‘micro-adjust spider’ allowing for an awful lot of options when it comes to the orientation of Rotor’s own Q-rings.
At a claimed 553g for 170mm crank arms or 563g for 175mm they’re impressively light, too, especially for a set of machined aluminium cranks.
