Another company that makes components favoured by the pros is Zipp. The Indianapolis-based brand are best known for their iconic wheels, but they do a mean line in finishing kit as well, with their chunky SL Sprint stem being used by various sprinters, even those that aren’t sponsored by Zipp but who black out the logos.
The SLC2 is another carbon bars for anyone looking to drop weight off a bike. At only 190g they’ll shave up to 100g from a set of bog-standard alloy bars on a mid-range bike and offer a blend of a two drop choices and a central section designed to be tough enough that you can even mount aerobar extensions.
Those two drop choices are a short shallow bend (84.5mm reach and 128mm drop with a 14 degree bar angle) or traditional bend that will allow you to get a little lower with an 87.5mm reach and 130mm drop from the same 14 degree angle.
One last feature from Zipp is the VCLC (Viscoelastic Constrained Layer Control) technology that claims to reduce vibration through the bars and offer a more comfortable ride as a result.
