The T-Mobile Cycling Team has made its intentions clear for this year’s Tour of Britain by selecting a very strong line-up for the race that begins in Glasgow on 29 August. Following the announcement that Isle of Man and GB cyclist Mark Cavendish will ride on his home turf, the team has also announced the inclusion of former German national champion Andreas Kloden and three time World Time Trial Champion, Australia’s Michael Rogers.
Commonwealth gold medallist and 2005 World Madison champion, Cavendish is set to make his T-Mobile debut this week at the Regio Tour in Germany. He will be looking for a strong performance before he takes to the British roads later this month. Kloden finished strongly in the Tour de France, claiming a podium place, and will be hoping to complete his first Tour of Britain since the event was re-introduced to the professional cycling calendar in 2004.
Michael Rogers is one of the most successful road cyclists of all time, having won the time trial World Championships for the last three consecutive years – the only male cyclist to have achieved such a feat.
Commenting on the forthcoming Tour of Britain, Rogers, who first rode the event in 2005, said:
“I am looking forward to being part of the T-Mobile team riding the Tour of Britain again. With great roads, crowds and organisation the event is a major focus in the build-up for my defence of the World Time Trial Championships in Salzburg later in September.”
