Bolle Vortex sunglasses – review

These Vortex sunglasses from eyewear specialists Bolle sit in the company’s performance range, designed specifically for sports like cycling and running.

Bolle’s B88 frames are manufactured using a high grade nylon, resulting in a frame which is lightweight, durable and flexible. That translates to sunglasses that feel substantial and likely to stand the test of time, while being light enough to sit inconspicuously on your face.

The company’s ThermoGrip technology – the nose clip that keeps the glasses on your face – works to ensure your eyes are kept on the road, with an excellent fit that prevents the frame slipping and needing a nudge back into place.

As for the lenses, they’re 100 per cent UV protective, with a hydrophobic coating to repel rain on the outside and sweat on the inside. That also makes the lenses easy to clean.

The B-Clear lenses are designed specifically for use on the road, with a CarboGlas coating to reflect debris and prevent scratches (a hard carry case is provided to store the glasses while on the move). Crucially, the lens tint provides crisp, clear vision when cycling through an ever-changing backdrop.

That’s a lot of technology packed in one pair of sunglasses. Retail price is £108 but, as ever, you can find them significantly cheaper by searching online.
