OK, so we’ve already posted a First Ride on Cannondale’s new SRAM RED-equipped SuperSix EVO. But that was on the press launch and on Italian roads in wondrous early summer weather, with a bunch of equally-mounted journos to steer clear of while attempting to assess aspects of the new cycle’s performance worth noting.
Here, however, we have an actual production sample in production colours and with the production components such as wheel and tyres that the purchaser will get, and it’s going to be ridden, not by the press launch test pilot, but by Dave ‘Shiny Boy’ Arthur, who has been salivating over the prospect since the bike crossed the threshold of RCUK Tower.
His ride report will follow, so for now we’ll rest content with a quick overview. The bike, complete but for pedals, weighs 6.36kg/14lbs for size 56cm. Besides the obvious SRAM RED transmission (with Cannondale-badged RED compact crankset) and brake calipers, it wears FSA Wing Pro Compact aluminium handlebars and SL-K stem and matches a Fizik Antares MG rail saddle with FSA SL-K Carbon seat post, and it rolls on Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels shod with Schwalbe Ultremo ZX clinchers.
Largely finished in glossy black with highlights reminiscent of pro team co-sponsor Liquigas green, the EVO looks superb. Let’s hope Shiny Boy can do it justice.
