Southern Sportive season heads into summer

The 155km Southern Sportive follows one of the most rewarding courses on the calendar

It’s two down but seven to go as far as the Southern Sportive season is concerned.

With events in Princes Risborough and Duncton done, thoughts turn to Swindon and the Great Western Sportive on June 19.

The 170km course features 2100m climbing, while shorter 134km and 80km rides are also on offer.

Now for something different – the Woodcote CX Sportive on June 26. Following the inaugural cyclo-cross ride in January, it’s time again to dust off the knobbly tyres and hit the Tarmac and trails.

After heading to Reigate and a return to Woodcote, then comes the highlight of the calendar – the Southern Sportive, from Petersfield, on September 11.

The original South Downs sportive, the Southern (155km, 112km and 71km) draws riders back year after year to take on one of the most rewarding courses on the calendar.

That just leaves the Hawkesbury Sunday Sportive on October 9, before the final event of 2011, the Salisbury CX Sportive.
