German brand Rose Bikes, one of the biggest bike and accessory brands in its native country, has signed as as title sponsor of the Forest of Dean Spring Classic sportive, which takes place on the weekend of 1st and 2nd May 2010.

Now in its fifth year, the Forest of Dean Spring Classic is established as one of the premier events on the UK sportive calendar. The sponsorship has helped the organisers to improve on the event with extra facilities at the start/finish such as more toilets, bike racks and Kryptonite lock station; indoor feed stops with toilets on the route, electronic timing, NEG outriders on the course, and free food before and after for all entrants.

As event organiser Graham Temple says “We have taken on board all the comments from last year’s participants and used the sponsorship to improve the overall experience of the event.”

The 85 mile event starts and finishes in Monmouth and takes riders on a loop through some of the most challenging  roads the area has to offer. The route has been slightly modified this year to aid navigation and includes an extra climb for good measure. From three-mile-long climbs to 1-in-4 walls, a serious workout awaits and will test even the fittest of riders.

The clover leaf design of the route means they are never more than 20 miles from the event village, which is open from Saturday 1st. Sign-on is available on Saturday as well as Sunday morning. As a result of the event’s popularity, entries this year are strictly limited to 1000 riders, an increase from the traditional 750 which sold out before the event last year.
