Bianchi have unveiled a new “vibration cancelling” frame that will be ridden by Juan Antonio Flecha (Vacansoleil-DCM) at this Sunday’s Paris-Roubaix.
The Infinito CV has a chassis made from a proprietary carbon lay-up containing viscoelastic; a patented technology called Countervail®.
Former Team Sky rider, Flecha, three times a podium finisher at Paris-Roubaix, and fourth last year, will contest this year’s Queen of the Classics aboard the Infinito CV.
The Countervail® lay-up has been developed with American firm, Materials Sciences Corporation, and Bianchi has entered an agreement for its exclusive use in bike manufacture.
Bianchi CEO, Bob Ippolito, said: “Thanks to our close collaboration with MSC’s engineers, we have developed a new exclusive patented material technology that will deliver better performance with less fatigue and more control.”
The frame was unveiled in Lille, three days before the 111th edition of Paris-Roubaix. Flecha attended the launch.
A spokesman for the Italian manufacturer said: “The Bianchi Countervail® integrated system immediately cancels vibration while increasing frame rigidity.
“Decreased vibration reduces muscle fatigue which improves handling, rider control, and maximizes energy savings under the spectrum of vibration loads.”
Bianchi claim to have tested the technology “in the extreme conditions of NASA aerospace operations”.
The aero-formed Infinito CV, available also with disc brakes, uses the same Coast 2 Coast geometry as its Infinito sibling.
