Fabian Cancellara (RadioShack-Nissan-Trek) is one of the most popular riders in the WorldTour peloton, and his success in this year’s Tour de France, winning the prologue time trial and wearing the yellow jersey for six stages, was welcomed by many.
His departure after stage nine to be with his expectant wife gave Trek an additional exhibit for their show in Frankfurt, Germany: Cancellara’s Tour de France steed – a Trek Domane in a shade to match his maillot jaune.
Cancellara chose the Domane, a machine in whose design he was heavily involved, over Trek’s new Madone 7, unlike many of his RadioShack-Nissan-Trek colleagues.
Its striking colour offers the most obvious clue to its ownership, but there are other details that mark this Domane as the property of Spartacus.
