Here’s the bike Mark Cavendish will be riding through the 2012 season following his switch to Team Sky, complete with the world champion’s rainbow stripes on the seat stays.
Former HTC-Highroad rider Cavendish won the Tour de France green jersey and the World Championships on a Specialized Venge, developed alongside the F1 supremos at McLaren.
But Cavendish will pilot a Pinarello Dogma 2 in his biggest year to date, when the Manx Missile will defend that green jersey before launching an assault on the London 2012 Olympic road race.
Electronic shifting comes by way of Shimano’s Dura-Ace Di2 groupset, while the Japanese manufacturer is also on hand with Dura-Ace C35 wheels. Sky have switched from Deda components to PRO ahead of the 2012 season, with Cav’s bike complete with PRO handlebars and stem, while Fizik provide the saddle.
The black gloss paint job is a move away from Sky’s traditional cyan blue and black livery, although the rest of the team’s bikes will be revealed when the WorldTour season kicks off with the Tour Down Under on Sunday.
