The Tour of Britain and The Prostate Cancer Charity have announced an exclusive prize for the 1000th entrant of the Prostate Cancer Charity Tour Ride on Saturday 6 September, with some ‘money can’t buy’ prizes up for grabs.
What can the 1000th person who registers for this event win? There’s the opportunity to ride in The Tour of Britain race car at a stage of their choice, VIP hospitality and an official race jersey.
Sounds impressive doesn’t it. Fortunately there are other prizes to be awarded to the fundraisers, including free Unite ByCycling water bottles, an official race Blue Jersey, hospitality at a Tour of Britain stage, top of the range road bikes and places in a race support car. Plenty of reasons to get fundraising then.
“When we planned The Tour Rides, our aim was to offer all participants the full experience of what it would be like to take part in a stage of The Tour of Britain,” says Graham Jones, ex Tour de France rider and Route Director of The Tour of Britain. “Today we are taking this one step further by giving riders the opportunity to experience The Tour of Britain in a way that no amount of money can buy, with jerseys, VIP hospitality and travel in an official race car during The Tour of Britain event.”
The Tour of Britain Official Neutral Service Provider, Saddleback Ltd, is also offering all participants in the Tour Ride a free SRAM Rival rear derailleur with the purchase of a SRAM Rival DoubleTap Shifters. Riders in The Tour Rides will also benefit from neutral service provided by SRAM, with working neutral service cars and mechanics at the event start and all drink and feeds stops on the route.
The Prostate Cancer Charity Tour Ride provides a unique opportunity for members of the public to get on their bikes and ride the official Stoke-on-Trent stage of The Tour of Britain race. This event takes place on Sunday 6 September 2009 and is the first event of its kind to be organised in Great Britain.
There will be three different rides, offering something for everyone, regardless of their cycling ability or fitness. Just like the professionals will on the 16 September during stage 5 of the prestigious Tour of Britain race, riders in the Pro Tour Ride, Challenge Tour Ride and the Family Ride will all begin their rides from under The Tour of Britain gantry at the Britannia Stadium, the iconic home of Stoke City FC.
