Tom Boonen insists he is “very confident” going into the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix having enjoyed a prolific start to 2012.
Tornado Tom has recorded six victories so far this season (plus overall success in the Tour of Qatar), and the Belgian goes the Tour of Flanders this Sunday in imperious form having triumphed in the E3 Harelbeke and Gent–Wevelgem semi-Classics.
Boonen has previously won the Ronde van Vlaanderen twice, recording back-to-back victories in 2005 and 2006, and is bidding to become the first rider to record a trio of wins since Johan Museeuw completed his hat-trick in 1988.
