With four months until the start of the Tour de France in Corsica, race organisers ASO have released this stunning trailer for the 100th edition of the La Grande Boucle.
Corsica will host the race for the first time, with three stages on the Mediterranean island before the race returns to mainland France for a mountainous route which includes Mont Ventoux and a double ascent of Alpe d’Huez, ahead of a floodlit finish on the Champs Elysees. You can see the full route here.
The video pays tribute to Tour heroes of years past ahead of this year’s historic edition of the race – but Lance Armstrong is conspicuous in his absence in the two-minute trailer which, of course, also showcases the stunning landscapes which provide a backdrop to the Tour each year.
Chris Froome will lead Team Sky’s charge with the support of super-domestique and defending champion Bradley Wiggins, while Alberto Contador will return having missed last year’s race through a doping ban. If the Tour seemed a long way away, it’s just got a whole lot closer…
