US-based component manufacturers SRAM are masters of Hollywood marketing and the launch of their new top-of-the-range is no different, with last week’s video tease followed by the release of this batch of spy shots.
This is all before the official launch in February 2012, of course, and firm details are hazy, but this is what SRAM have told us in their latest press release.
Shift levers: ErgoDynamic design: best in class control & comfort
Front derailleur: Revolutionary YAW Technology eliminates trim
Cassette: StealthRing elastomers for silent ride
Crankset: Featherweight Exogram hollow carbon construction
Brakes: AeroLink arm: improved modulation and high power
Rear derailleur: New AeroGlideĀ jockey wheels for silent performance
The key details in short; we know the crank design has been overhauled, with a chunkier appearance that will still be lighter than the previous Red group thanks to the hollow carbon fibre construction. The outer chainring has also been redesigned, as have the shifter hoods, with a new ergonomic ‘grip’ and textured surface. The are also new jockey wheels in the rear mech to decrease drivetrain noise.
