The sportive season is almost over. Organisers Kilo To Go wrap up their seasons of events with the Tour of the Peak on Saturday 24 October, just before the clocks change.
The route recce confirms that the route is both challenging yet achievable, say the organisers. In the Tour of the Peak they dish up three of the Peak District’s most delicious cycling climbs: Cat and Fiddle, Winnats and Holme Moss.
All these climbs are tough challenges in their own right but within the scope of most cyclists. All previously used as defining climbs in the Tour of Britain race, the long steady 7 miles of the Cat and Fiddle, then the very steep picturesque gorge of Winnats and finally the highest classified through road in England up to Holme Moss.
The HQ is Chapel en le Frith Leisure centre in the High Peak – easily accessible by road, rail and even plane. There are two route options and the entry fee is £25. The event is fully insured by British Cycling and offers full rider support.The HQ offers with changing and shower facilities, Star massage for post ride recovery, well stocked and safely located feed-stations with first aid kits, pumps and tools, as well as knowledgeable crew.
On the route there be NEG motorcycle safety officers and rider support from Velo29 to keep your ride moving along safely. Transponder timing and professional photography come as standard too.
