RCUK covered the full Sportstest here a few months ago. The problem is the data that Dr. Garry Palmer provides you with needs careful interpretation. Mine is still waiting for me to act upon… Garry does point out a lot of issues, some need referral (bike fit, Physio, etc.) to other professionals and he will help you with your target training zones – but the rest of the ‘targetted training plan’ takes a lot more consideration.
So you’ll need to get a coach. It needs a coach to work out what’s best for you. Be it loads of conditioning or just some top-up speed work, it’s best coming from someone who knows…
So we’ve come up with this idea: Why not combine a full test with a coach referral and follow up?
With the new RCUK/Sportstest package you will receive a full Sportstest followed by full 12 week performance programme to peak for your season’s target event be it the Etape, a Gran Fondo, The Marmot, a 100 mile ride, National championships or to just get under the hour. Seeing as the Etape is fast approaching and you will need to have a concerted effort to get ready, so there’s not a moment to loose…
In a nutshell, this is what you can expect from the package:
• A complete Sportstest
• Full feedback consultation (total appointment 2.5 hrs – note that this now longer than previously).
• A personalised weekly training programme and training guidance from former Tour rider, multi-national champion and qualified BC coach Adrian Timmis, for the 3 months leading to the Etape (or your chosen event). He will organise your training so you’re in the best possible form for your big day.
Total cost £500 As individual items the Sportstest would usually cost £200. The coaching would usually be a minimum of £120 per month, so this total is £560 so it’s a 10%+ discount – you’ll get peak performance all for the price of a pair of wheels.
