Tour of Qatar 2014: stage six – five observations

Food for thought as the race draws to a close in Doha

Part two of this year’s hot weather racing in the Middle East drew to a close in Doha, with Niki Terpstra (Omega Pharma-Quickstep) sealing overall victory in the Tour of Qatar.

The Belgian team, for whom victory in the emirate represented a third consecutive triumph in this race, dominated the week with three stage wins, Terpstra’s overall title and a clean sweep of the gold, silver and pearl white jerseys.

After a slower start to the year than expected, OPQS has sent out an emphatic statement to their rivals as they gear up for the return of the WorldTour next month.
