Five reasons to visit the 2014 Tour de France Grand Départ

Why you should add the Grand Départ to your 2014 diary

Dare 2b Yorkshire Festival of Cycling

Music festivals are as much a part of summer as trips to the seaside, holidays and – every now and again – a chance to sunbathe. But why should the festival season be restricted to music? Why not celebrate sport – and cycling – instead? The Dare 2b Yorkshire Festival of Cycling, a collaboration between the outdoor clothing brand and Harewood House, will do just that.

Local cyclists ride through the ground of Harewood House, which will be transformed into a huge festival of cycling during the Grand Départ weekend

The manor house is impressive enough in itself, but its grounds – covering some 1000 acres – are an incredible expanse of green countryside. And come the first weekend in July, those grounds will be awash with tents, bikes, big screens, expos and masses upon masses of cycling fans for the Grand Départ.

Alongside the opportunity to see the Tour race down the driveway of the house, rides will be organised for those wanting to tackle the route themselves, while the carnival atmosphere will make it an unforgettable occasion. What better way to celebrate the Tour coming to England than to join with thousands of like-minded fans to create the biggest celebration of cycling these shores have seen?
