You just cannot keep Sir Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) out of the headlines, and so it has proved over the last few days.
His omission from the Tour de France squad, decision to ride on the track with Team England at the Commonwealth Games and his British time trial success have all dominated the cycling agenda.
But one only has to look at the latter to see Wiggins is still very much a rider on top of his game.
His stunning performance on a hilly circuit at Celtic Manor earned him the red, white and blue stripes, while Emma Pooley and Scott Davies were also celebrating in the women’s and men’s under-23 races respectively.
