Chris Froome entered the history books in Paris on Sunday, becoming the first Brit to win the Tour de France twice, and the first rider of any nationality to win both the yellow and polka dot jerseys since Eddy Merckx.
The Team Sky man crossed the finish line on the Champs-Elysees arm-in-arm with his team-mates – who had traded their blue-striped kit for a yellow stripe to mark the occasion.
And, after taking to the podium to celebrate his triumph, the Kenyan-born Brit promised to always honour the jersey and thanked his team-mates for their support through some difficult moments – both on the bike and off it.
Andre Greipel, meanwhile, was celebrating his fourth stage win of this year’s race and the tenth of his career – the only current rider with more is Mark Cavendish.
