All eyes were on the out-and-out sprinters for stage two of the Tour de Romandie, with just a pair of third category climbs to negotiate en route to Montreux.
But thanks to some well-timed injections of pace on the front of the bunch, and a superb sprint by Michael Albasini (Orica-GreenEDGE), it was the Swiss rider celebrating for a second consecutive stage.
With time bonuses picked up at the finish line, it puts the 33-year-old into the overall lead, with Michal Kwiatkowski (Omega Pharma-Quickstep) pushed into second despite leading the sprint out.
