L’Alpe d’Huez, the Muur van Geraardsbergen, the Alto de L`Angliru…
Cycling is not short of iconic locations, and in the infamous sand dunes of Koksijde, cyclo-cross has a circuit to match any road race for the demands made of strength and skill, not to mention photogenics.
British fans can look with continued pride then upon the achievements of Nikki Harris, Helen Wyman, Gabby Durin, and Ian Field, who carried the fight to the world’s best on arguably the world’s toughest circuit.
National champion, Harris, in particular continues to shine, and claimed her third consecutive World Cup podium of the season in this most demanding arena.
While friend and compatriot, Wyman, has enjoyed a fantastic season with two victories in the aptly-named Super Prestige series, and a second European title to show for her efforts, in the World Cup it has been Harris leading the charge for the Brits.
Field de Brit, the hard won nickname from those harshest of ‘cross judges, the Belgians, experienced a more demanding day in the dunes of Koksijde. The Kent man, the reigning and two-time British ‘cross champion, continues to ply his trade in the most challenging of all ‘cross arenas, determined to test himself against the best.
Photographer, Balint Hamvas, sent another batch of stunning images, capturing the beauty and brutality of perhaps the hardest circuit in ‘cross.
