Tour d'Azerbaidjan
Tour d'Azerbaidjan
Not every race on the calendar has the attraction of the Tour de France, and some resort to trying to drum up interest with advertising space during more prominent races.
Not a bad move, you might say, and we’d agree, but it works better if your advert isn’t highly irritating. We’ve got nothing against Azerbaidjan, but the organisers of their national tour really need to learn a few things when it comes to what people don’t want during commercial breaks.
The visuals are okay for the most part, even though they’re a little strange – especially the old chap at the beginning who seems to blatantly check out the young woman riding past him while he’s sanding down his wooden bike. But it’s the music that really gets us. Culturally appropriate it may be, but quiet it most certainly isn’t. Couple that shrillness with the fact that the volume always increases during the breaks and you always know when the Tour of Azerbaidjan is being advertised, even if you’re outside, because you’ll see your windows crack.
