With the opening stage of this season’s first Grand Tour, the Giro d’Italia, on Saturday, Team Sky have released another of their infographics, this one focusing not only on the Giro but the Tour and Vuelta as well.
As well as showing that nine riders have won two Grand Tours in a year, the graphic also shows that despite racking up 20 stages wins in Italy, France and Spain in their comparatively short existence, Sky have only have three riders – Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome and Salvatore Puccio – wear the overall leaders jersey during a Grand Tour.
Also, this year’s three races combine for a total 10,199km which amounts to a quarter of the way around the world. Just think how far Lotto’s Adam Hansen will have ridden in the last few years if he completes all three to make it 13 in a row by the end of the year!
