Former Dutch under-23 national champion Tom Jelte-Slagter is bound for Garmin-Sharp in 2014. The 24-year-old, riding for Blanco, won the season-opening Tour Down Under in January to highlight his potential.
The Dutchman – who also bagged the mountains classification at the UCI 2.1-classified Tour of Alberta – has accepted an offer fromJonathan Vaughters’ Garmin-Sharp squad. The Argyle team already boasts a young roster bursting with potential, with DS Charly Wegelius believing the team are well set for future success. The signing of Jelte-Slagter certainly adds to it, and with Irishman Dan Martin and Canadian former Giro winner Ryder Hesjedal holding ambitions for Grand Tour success, the Dutchman will undoubtedly bolster their support teams.
