The sun shone on the Tour de France again on stage 11, and the riding certainly fitted the conditions as fans were treated to an enthralling spectacle.
Tony Gallopin (Lotto-Belisol) rode to the stage win, gifting team-mate Andre Greipel an extra birthday present, and earning plaudits from inside the peloton.
It was not just Lotto-Belisol celebrating either, as Tinkoff-Saxo made seamless progress into their ‘plan B’ of attacking riding – though not managing a stage win, Nico Roche did go home with the red race numbers of the combativity award.
