UCI WorldTour: five young guns to watch out for in 2014

A quintet of young riders who could leave their mark on cycling's top tier next season

Simon and Adam Yates (Orica-GreenEDGE)

Simon and Adam Yates rejected the advances of Team Sky to join Australian outfit Orica-GreenEDGE this winter, and will ride as neo-pros for the team in 2014. The 21-year-old twins proved their undoubted abilities with the British academy team last year – Simon most notably winning a stage at the Tour of Britain on his way to third overall and the white jerseyWorld points champion on the track, Simon insists he is not looking too far ahead as he prepares for his first professional year.

However, both brothers have already proved their credentials – Adam finishing second overall at the Tour de l’Avenir, after Simon had won back-to-back stages. Simon also topped the youth classification at An Post Ras, and with Orica-GreenEDGE looking to build on a hugely successful 2013, if the twins continue their rapid rise to the top they could well have important parts to play in that.
