Following the successful first edition on 14 August, when London Cycling Campaign’s six commuter-friendly rides into Central London kicked off, LCC will be continuing its Cycle Friday ‘led’ rides until 2 October 2009.
Designed to encourage novice cyclists to commute to work, there are six Cycle Friday rides running from the suburbs into central London.
Working in partnership with Transport for London, who publicise the rides through their website, LCC provide experienced marshals to guide hundreds of new cyclists from the suburbs into central London.
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said, “Cycle Fridays are a brilliantly simple way of giving thousands of commuters the confidence to get cycling. I’m sure when they see how much of a fun, healthy and convenient experience it can be, they’ll be hooked.”
Rides leave their starting points at 8am every Friday and run along the following routes (see them on a map at www.lcc.org.uk):
1. Brixton to Russell Square
