The 2014 Champions of CycleSport dinner has raised approximately £200,000 for the children’s charity Action Medical Research.
The annual dinner, now in its fifth year, took place on November 27 and was attended by a number of cycling stars, including Sir Dave Brailsford, Chris Boardman, Stephen Roche, Dani King, Roger Hammond, Dean Downing, Jody Cundy, Hannah Walker, Jon Mould, Yanto Barker, Ian Wilkinson, Martyn Ashton, Tom Stewart and Jason Queally.
The event was hosted by Sky News anchor Dermot Murnaghan, while BBC 5 Radio Live cycling commentator Simon Brotherton took on the role of auctioneer, with lots including the chance to ride with Team Sky at their 2015 training camp in Majorca, a Team Sky Pinarello Dogma 65.1 Think 2 signed by Brailsford and a Tour of California jersey signed by 2014 champion Sir Bradley Wiggins.
“I always love coming to the Champions of CycleSport dinner and I’m proud to support it,” said Brailsford. “The CycleSport dinner is a celebration of all that’s great about cycling – in the UK as a whole and in particular the rides that Action Medical Research has put on over the past year. It’s been another really great evening.”
