The sportive season now runs year-round, with slicks swapped for knobbly tyres ahead of the third CX Sportive season.
The CX Sportive format was launched in 2010 and returns with three dates for winter 2012-13, starting with the Salisbury event on November 11. The action then moves to the Woodcote in the Chilterns on January 27, before the South Downs Super CX visits Duncton in West Sussex on March 10.
All three events will offer 40, 60 and 80km course, ideal for cyclo-cross bikes, but also suitable for a winter training bike which has been tweaked for a little rough stuff, or mountain bikes. The courses mix back roads, interwoven with byways and a handful of short, tougher off road links.
“Faster than a winter mountain bike mudfest, livelier then a cold, wet road ride, CX Sportives are a great balance for your winter riding,” the organisers told us.
