‘Cycling, socialising and luxury’: Etape Suisse sportive launched

Swiss Alpine resort hosts weekend of activities in September

A new sportive has been launched offering a weekend of ‘cycling, socialising and luxury’ in the Swiss Alps from September 5 to September 8.

Etape Suisse offers 150km of cycling – with 3,000 metres of climbing – in Davos Klosters, set against Alpine scenery.

A packed programme for cyclists and their non-cycling companions is also planned for the long weekend – including a time trial, the chance to test some of BMC’s 2015 bike range and a cycling festival.

The main sportive route includes the Albula and Fluela Passes, while one of the chief feed stops en route is the Suvretta House, St. Moritz.

A shorter route of 114km, with 400 metres less climbing, is also available.

For non-cycling companions – the Tifosi – the resort also offers hiking, shopping, golf, spa treatments and child-oriented activities too.

The weekend starts with AprèsCycle entertainment on Friday evening before the action begins on the Saturday morning when teams will race against the clock and each other in the team time trial.

An Inspiration Forum then offers chance to socialise and enjoy guest speakers, before the evening’s CycleFest.

The main Etape Suisse sportive ride takes place on the Sunday morning before a charity gala dinner and awards ceremony, including an auction for the Laureus sports charity, rounds off the weekend.

Co-founder Robert Simpson says: “Etape Suisse is a unique combination of cycling, fun and luxury. I am really looking forward to taking part in the inaugural event in Davos”

Prices start from £1200 per rider, £1050 per non-rider (excluding flights, including early bid discount available until end of April 2014).
