Are you fit enough to go on a training camp? Yes and no is the honest answer.
Every rider pitches up at a training camp looking to leave as a faster cyclist than when they arrived and so, by default, everyone has room for improvement.
More important is to do your homework and find a camp and riding group that ensures you get the most out of your time away, whether you’re an elite racer wanting to clock 100 miles every day or sportive beginner wanting to work on their tan lines.
Still, it’s worth arriving at a training camp in decent shape in order to make the most of the week.
Many riders will embark of a period of training ahead of the training camp itself to make sure they can enjoy the cycling on offer to the maximum.
Riders who booked a spring training camp at the back-end of the year will likely have used the prospect of a week’s riding as motivation to get out on the bike over winter but it’s never too late to kick-start your season.
A training camp can give your fitness a big boost ahead of the rest of the year and you’re sure to have a great time riding your bike in the process.
