Introducing the Best of British – RCUK’s guide to Britain’s best road riding

Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, North Pennines and Trough of Bowland star in first installment of Best of British series

Adventure and exploration – two words at the heart of why we love cycling, and the inspiration behind our latest project here on RoadCyclingUK. We’re proud to launch the first installment of the Best of British – a new series which showcases the wildest, toughest and most beautiful road cycling routes in Great Britain. Head this way to have a look.

We’re lucky in this job that we have the chance to ride in some of the world’s most iconic spots – from the legendary cobbled climbs of Flanders to the mythical ascents of the Alps.

But wherever we ride here in Britain, be it the jaw-dropping mountains of Scotland or the stark wilderness of Dartmoor, we’re always taken aback by the sheer variety, beauty and challenge of cycling on these shores. There’s nothing quite like it.

We think that’s something to shout about and the Best of British is our celebration of the very best riding here in Britain.

We’ve partnered with Ribble Cycles to launch the first Best of British installment in the north west of England, covering routes in the Lake District, North Pennines, Trough of Bowland and Yorkshire Dales, and presented to you in four articles with stunning photography and jaw-dropping video to bring each ride to life.

The RoadCyclingUK team has loved putting the Best of British together, but not as much as we loved riding each of the routes and we want to inspire you to do the same – to experience the towering peaks of the Lakes, the Tour de France climbs of the Dales, the wild moors of the Pennines and the lush forest of the Trough of Bowland.

But that’s enough for now. Get yourself over to the Best of British micro-site, take a look for yourself, and start planning your next adventure.
