Amateur cyclists can sign up for the ‘ultimate pro rider experience’ with registration now open for the NSPCC Tour of England.
The multi-stage events offers the chance to ride with domestiques, team cars and motorbike outriders, with each two-stage tour punctuated by circuit racing and a timed hill climb.
Seeded groups, based on training times, will allow riders who are keen to race and those keen just to complete the challenge to both take part. Riders can attend a ‘yellow jersey dinner’, with presentations and guest speakers.
The series starts with the NSPCC Tour of the South East on Saturday June 7 and Sunday June 8, which includes a timed climb of Box Hill and racing around Dunsfold Park circuit.
It is then followed by the Tour of Yorkshire, from Saturday July 19 to Sunday July 20, which includes part of the Tour de France route just a fortnight after the pros will have ridden it.
Both events cover 180 miles of riding across two stages, with a total climb of 10,000ft.
Gavin Spence, NSPCC head of participation events, said: “Following the success of Team GB’s cyclists at London 2012, we’ve seen a huge increase in the popularity of charity cycling events which represent an exciting new fundraising stream for us.
“We’re delighted to be able to build on this with the NSPCC Tour of England – a great opportunity to enjoy the professional peloton experience, whilst raising money to help protect children and prevent abuse. “
A comprehensive pre-event programme of training rides and coaching sessions is also included, alongside a free tour jersey, £25 Ginger & French voucher, energy bars, gels and other goodies.
Riders committed to raising £500 for the NSPCC can register for just £49 with tickets for the dinner included, or you can register without a minimum sponsorship commitment for £169, with dinner tickets priced at £50.
